Parker & Burgess Realty was founded in 1957 by Glen Parker as Parker Real Estate. George Burgess joined Glenn as a partner in January 1969 and the name was then changed to Parker & Burgess Realty. Through dedication to their profession, advertising and the many out of town contacts they both had, it became evident that more and more people became interest in the mountain of North Carolina and especially Ashe County.

In April 1972, Mike Burgess joined his father part-time in the company as a salesman upon his graduation from Appalachian State University in 1974; he became full-time with Parker & Burgess Realty as a Real Estate Broker and Appraiser.

In 1991, the North Carolina Appraisal Board’s new rules required appraisers to become State Certified. Mike then became a Certified State Appraiser.

He is now licensed by both North Carolina and Virginia in Real Estate Brokerage as well as Appraisal.

Parker & Burgess have been in business in West Jefferson for fifty-four successful years. Through their many achievements – many contributions have been made to our town and county by Parker & Burgess Realty.

Parker & Burgess has been a member of Ashe County Chamber of Commerce since 1965.

They feel the Ashe Chamber and its members have been successful to the growth of Ashe County, its people and businesses.
