Beat the Heat Summer Film Series

The New River Earth Institute and New River State Park have teamed up to present

an earth-saving-info-packed Summer Film Series.

The duo has named the film series, “Visions: Environmental Impact and You.”  Each

film will entertain, all the while informing viewers how each of us affects this planet we call home.

All of  the movies will also empower viewers, offering ideas of how to lessen their impacts

on the environment and  how to make the world a better place for this and future generations.

All films will be shown in the state of the art auditorium of the new visitor center at the

221-Access of New River State Park.  All programs are free and begin at 6:30 pm in the

auditorium, and will be followed by action-taking-tips and discussions.

The next film in the series, Escape From Affluenza, will be shown Saturday, July 5, at

6:30 p.m.  The popular movie reviews ways to live in, yet escape our consumer society.

Movies throughout the rest of the summer will include the following:

Saturday, July 12, The Future of Food—Hybrids to Genetic Modifications, how we are

tampering with life and food on this planet?

Saturday, July 19,  An Inconvenient Truth—The academy award winning movie about

global warming and ways to fight the climate crisis.

Saturday, July 26,  Who Killed the Electric Car—Why the ultimate electric car was built

and subsequently destroyed.

Saturday, August 2, Kilowatt Ours—A look at energy consumption and ways to make a

difference in lifestyle.

Saturday, August 9, Human FootprintJourney through daily life in the United States

and learn about the environmental footprint each person makes.

The heat is on, and so is the air conditioner at the New River State Park auditorium, so

come on out and beat the heat...and learn how to save the planet while you're at it!

If you have already seen any of these films, please invite friends and neighbors who haven’t.
