Main Street Marketing announces the 14th Annual High Country Home (Sweet Home) Show which will take place on Saturday, Oct. 1 at Westwood Elementary School in Ashe County. The show welcomes over 1000 guests who are eager to see the latest and greatest products for the home while enjoying door prizes and food from Daniel Boone Inn. Admission: FREE

Back by popular demand! Shag Dance lessons Mondays: Sept. 26, Oct. 3, 10, 17, 24 in preparation for the Halloween Beach Bash on Saturday, Oct. 29. Beginners 6-7pm; Intermediate 7-8pm. $5 per person, Cash Bar.
Ashe County Little Theatre presents To Kill a Mockingbird Friday and Saturday, October 7 and 8 at 7:30. Sunday, October 9 matinee at 2:00pm. Adaptation of the classic novel, To Kill a Mockingbird is a story about innocence, friendship, racism and courage. Tickets are $16 adults and $5 students. Tickets may be purchased at the Ashe Arts Center or over the phone at 336-846-2787.
Please join us for our 1st annual Fall Harvest Festival at the Farmers Market on the Backstreet in West Jefferson. Fun family activities include A Taste of the Market, where you can sample fall soups and chili made with market produce and get our recipes, face painting and pumpkin painting, an old fashioned cake walk, an old timey corn shucking contest, horse drawn carriage rides, freshly pressed cider samples, and a fall photo pumpkin patch corner. The Fall Crawl is here! The last crawl of the season will feature eighteen galleries all decked out in their fall finery on Friday, October 14 from 5-8 pm. Doughton Park Day at the Historic Bluffs Lodge

It will be an afternoon of music marking the work of Rep. Robert Doughton in assuring the Blue Ridge Parkway path through North Carolina. Join us as we honor this landmark and the beginning of the restoration of Doughton Park to include the gift shop, the lodge and the restaurant. Pack a picnic lunch, bring a blanket and share in the festivities. In the event of rain, the celebration will move to the Emerson Black building at the Alleghany County Fairgrounds in Sparta, NC.
Spend Sat. Oct 15th in Ashe County & visit some amazing Craft Beer locations as we celebrate Oktoberfest and the fall changing of the leaves in the High Country. Many businesses will be running great specials and several Craft Beer locations have joined forces to create a fun "craft crawl". Pick up your Craft Crawl Card at participating businesses, get it stamped by at least 5 participating businesses then use it as a 10% discount coupon the following week.

Downtown West Jefferson comes alive after five with seventeen galleries showcasing the latest artwork by Ashe County’s Favorite Artists. Gallery Crawl is a free event and is sponsored by the Ashe County Arts Council in cooperation with the West Jefferson Business Association, the West Jefferson TDA and is funded, in part, through a Grassroots Arts Program Grant of the North Carolina Arts Council.

Event Submission Guidelines
The Ashe County Chamber Events Calendar provides a single source of events throughout Ashe County that are of interest to a wide audience to include residents, seasonal home owners and visitors of Ashe County. In order to keep this calendar current and relevant specific guidelines have been adopted to determine which events are to be added.
In general, to be considered for inclusion an event must meet one of more of the following:
Be open to the public and must be held in Ashe County
Appeals to a large audience to include out of town visitors as well as residents of Ashe County
Be in good taste and family friendly
Be an event designed to draw out of town participants, vendors, news coverage, etc
